Transforming a non-profit social agency into a social enterprise

Every day, the kitchen of Fred Victor – a social service charitable organization that helps people rebuild their lives – serves high-quality, low-barrier meals for people facing food insecurity. In 2008, Friends Catering was launched to provide culinary skills and training to people facing employment instability.

Rebranding Friends to Fred’s Kitchen uniquely positions the brand to enable catering customers to be both socially responsible while being social. And thanks to the growing trend towards social responsibility, connecting this social enterprise squarely back to Fred Victor – and the important work it supports across the GTA – has made Fred’s Kitchen a go-to for civic and corporate events.
